About the Camp

The Evolve Chile Camp is dedicated to offering the most unique and highest quality freeride ski and snowboard camp. Campers from all over the world are drawn to the Evolve Chile camp year after year because of the unmatched terrain combined with Evolve’s pro coaches and programming. The Evolve Chile program is part camp, part tour as we visit 4 different mountains each with its own unique elements and character. Whether its hitting the terrain park at Valle Nevado, dropping into waste deep powder in Portillo or building massive kickers in Termas, the variety of terrain helps riders of all abilities improve their overall skills. We travel to the best mountains in all of Chile, enjoy surf lessons in between sessions and immerse ourselves in Chilean Culture. Some ski and snowboard camps in Whistler and Mt Hood put a strong emphasis on park skills but the focus of Evolve Chile is on powder, big mountain, park and diversity. Wet slushy summer conditions are not our forte, powder and natural kickers is what were all about.

Terrain

The Andean mountain range is home to a variety of riding terrain for skiers and snowboarders. The Evolve Chile Camp gives campers an opportunity to ride alpine terrain in Valle Nevado and Portillo and in the trees in Termas de Chillan. Valle Nevado is surrounded by two neighboring mountains, La Parva and El Colorado which we drop into during our stay at the camp. Our mountainside accommodations give us daily access to huge peaks, bottomless powder and laid back riding with no crowds or lineups. Portillo is offered every other year. Termas de Chillan is in a world of its own with volcanoes in the site, and natural hot springs not to mention our Big Air Bag. The bag is the best place to learn any type of trick you can imagine.

El Park

Valle Nevado has one of the only parks in all of South America. Every year since we started the camp they have been improving it and adding features. The terrain park has its own t-bar, which allows us to get more sessions in per hour. In 2010 Evolve Chile signed an exclusive contract with Valle Nevado and Termas to have full control of the park. Special features, jumps and lanes will be managed, developed and maintained by park crew and coaches.

The best part about Valle Nevado is the natural park, which is found all around the mountain. Naturally built step ups, half pipes and of course our crew always build massive kickers to hit and land into cushions of powder. 

Here is what Devun Walsh had to say about Termas and Valle Nevado in 2008:

It was crazy good for South America. We snowboarded every day for 14 days, only missing one day, and that was a travel day. The first place we went to was Termas de Chillan and it snowed every night and was sunny everyday. So that was awesome. Valle Nevado hadn't had snow in a week, but it was great fun riding around and hitting the wind drifts. We got some good powder heli skiing out of there too.” More on Walsh

Our campers had an opportunity to see the full DC team hitting the booters and shredding around the mountain. 2009 will be full of other surprises.

Coaching

Evolve Chile hires some of the best the ski and snowboard instructors from around the globe. Some our coaching staff have competed at the professional level and others organize competitions and training programs at their home mountains. Throughout the camp, Evolve Chile also brings in guest coaches from the pro scene, which give campers an added learning opportunity. 

The Evolve Chile Camp offers daily group snowboard and ski coaching sessions which are organized according to riding abilities. Our staff to camper ratio is 1:6 which ensures that campers get the focus and attention they need to learn. Our coaches are professional, friendly and laid back people who want to turn you in to the best rider possible. They have programs designed for all types of riding abilities. If there are any specific snowboard or ski skills you want to work on - our coaches will show you the way.

Video Analysis

There is no better way to learn then watching yourself on the screen. Our video crew films lesson sessions daily, which can be reviewed in the evening with our coaching staff. Camper will get all the feedback they need to progress to the next level.
