Why Chile?

Chile? I’m sending my son or daughter all the way to Chile for a ski and snowboard camp?

YES! Chile is a world renowned destination for skiers and snowboarders. As the season wraps up in North America and Europe, Chile is just getting ready for action. Coming down to Chile during July and August provides our campers with an opportunity to live the “endless” winter dream. The Evolve Chile camp exposes campers to the unique Chilean culture, the Spanish language and a diverse ski and snowboard terrain that is one of a kind.

Evolve Chile is powered by Evolve Tours. Evolve has created some of the most unique and safest programs for teen adventure seekers to date. Chile is a safe, beautiful and modern country. Crime rates are low throughout the country and tourist facilities are generally good and are continuously improving.

How does my child get to camp?

Evolve organizes group flights from selected cities in North America. Campers are encouraged to travel with these group flights or book their own travel arrangements with group members departing from their city. If you need assistance booking a flight or would like to ensure your spot on a group flight, please contact Evolve Chile at 1.888.222.5066.

In Santiago Chile we will have staff waiting at the airport until the last camper arrives. At no point will your child be left unsupervised on travel days.

Supervision?

Campers are supervised on and off the mountain. While in snowboard or ski lessons or freeriding, campers are never on their own, a staff member will always be with the campers. Skiing and snowboarding is always done inbounds and out-of-bounds is strictly prohibited.

Parents at the camp

Many parents have asked us…can we come along? The answer is yes! In the past there have been parents who came along with their child to get some runs in. Chile is a great destination with lots of things to do other then skiing. If you are a parent who wants to drop in for a week while your son or daughter are at camp, let us know and we will set you up.

Food and Accommodations:

Breakfast and Dinner is included in the cost of the summer camp. Every morning there will be a full hot breakfast and a variety of dinner options. Lunches will be purchased by each camper. We try and accommodate all campers with special dietary needs, so if your child has any dietary needs we should know about – please indicate that info on the medical form or call our office.

Campers will have their own bed in each of the hotels we stay. Some hotels will sleep 3-4 campers per room while others will sleep 2. Rooms are gender specific.

SAFETY

Like any action sport, skiing and snowboarding have their inherent risks.

Evolve Chile attempts to minimize our camper's exposure to unnecessary risks by using experienced staff and following strict risk management guidelines. Our staff are professional instructors who have qualifications required to teach campers in all aspects of our program. On the first day of the camp, campers are briefed on expectations that must be followed in order to ensure their safety. Although all skiing and snowboarding is done inbounds, campers who come to Chile are required to purchase or rent an avalanche beacon. Helmets are mandatory for every camper and staff, nobody will be allowed on the hill without one. Other activities like surfing are supervised by trained professionals.

INJURIES

In case of injuries, all Chilean ski mountains have fully trained ski patrollers on the hill. Those who are injured will be safely transported to receive medical attention. Evolve Chile staff are trained in CPR and First Aid and will remain with the injured camper for as long as they are in the care of others. All mountains have access to nearby hospitals incase of severe injuries. Campers must have their own travel and medical insurance, which covers them in case of skiing and snowboarding injuries.

Once you have registered for the camp we will send you a medical form to complete, so that we are fully informed of all prior medical conditions.

What about drugs and alcohol?

Evolve Chile has a ZERO tolerance policy regarding drugs and alcohol. Any camper who is caught with any drugs or alcohol will be sent home immediately without a refund. There is also a no smoking policy for all campers and staff.
